World Curling Federation announces Board election nominations

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has announced all of the candidates nominated for the forthcoming Board elections at the WCF Annual General Assembly being held at the World Curling Congress in Reno, USA in September.

Current President, Kate Caithness OBE, from Scotland, is the only candidate nominated for the next four year term as President and will therefore be unopposed in the election.

This will comprise of eight Board Directors in total – a President, three Vice-Presidents each from the three zonal regions of the WCF, and another four Board Directors. All 53 MAs are eligible to nominate candidates for any of these positions.

The nominations for the three Vice-Presidents are Graham Prouse (Canada), the only nomination for the Americas zone, and Hugh Millikan (Australia), the sole candidate nominated from the Pacific-Asia zone.

From Europe, both current Vice-President Bent Ramsfjell (Norway) and Robert Susanj (Slovenia) have been nominated, with only one position available as European zone Vice-President.

They are Albert ‘Andy’ Anderson (USA); Hew Chalmers (Scotland); Li Dongyan (China); Laura Lochanski (Canada); Toyokazu Ogawa (Japan); Leif Öhman (Sweden); Gerrit-Jan Scholten (Netherlands); Michael Stepanyants (Russia).

The elections will take place on Sunday 7 September 2014 at the World Curling Federation’s Annual General Assembly. This will be held at the end of the third WCF Annual Congress which is being held in Reno, Nevada, USA between 4-7 September 2014.
